Tips on reducing the PCT patent cost:
1. If you are a South African resident and national, select the Austrian search office.
Cost of PCT patent: from R34,000
2. If you are a company, with turnover less than R1,5m per year and less than 5 prior US patents to your name, select the US search office (micro entity).
3. If you are a “large-ish” company, select either the Australian search office or the US (small entity) search office.
